A quiet shell for learning and sharing
A tired and poorly laid out apartment in Battersea, London. Originally converted from a Victorian school in the early 90's, it is located on the top floor, facing north with views across all of London. With a busy landscape and big skies, the apartment was designed to be a quiet but joyful space. The layout was carefully replanned so that it would be comfortable for two or twenty, with private nooks leading off large sharing spaces. A considered palette and the repeated use of just four materials, has a created a shell that is calm and comfortable, but also inspiring.
